This war film is a blast. A tremendous effort to bring together the humour of the social side of the American army with the ferocity and severity of war. A curiously compiled cast from Clint Eastwood to Rambo make up the shambles of a squadron seeking out a gold hoard in a town in Occupied France. Seems unlikely... Fortunately, Kelly (the man who's discovered it) has got a fool-proof plan. This - with the splendid scripting and the numerous humorous sequences - gels together to make a fantastic flick.
