It is the time of Queen Vic, there was a huge British Empire and in India there were lots of little English girls living there. One of those girls was called Marry. She was ten years old and very spoilt but her parents never had time for her, so there was only really one word that could describe Marry in a nutshell... sourer. However will all of this change when her parents are killed in an earthquake and she is forced to move back to England and live with her uncle? What will she do there? Will it change her sourer personality? Who will she become? This outstanding film has all the best elements in it, romance, sorrow, joy, love and a jaw dropping twist! With actors such as Andrew Knott, Laura Crossley, Maggie Smith, Heydon Prowse and Kate Maberly this beautifully structured film is brought to life. In my mind, the director, Agnieszka Holland, has done a awe-inspiring job of pulling together such a stunning film and rounding this complex yet moving story into only ninety seven minutes. This was powerful and intriguing movie so I would definitely recommend it to all ages over nine.
This is why I gave it four stars!
