The Grant Budapest Hotel, directed by Wes Anderson, is the extravagant story of Zero (Tony Revolori), the new lobby boy, who is taken under the wing of M.Gustave (Ralph Fiennes). This film has everything you would want to expect from Anderson; the visuals are stunning, with almost tediously symmetrical shots and saturated tones of pink running throughout, hilarious but subtle dark comedy contrasted with the darker tones of the plot, and a fantastic cast including Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, and Jude Law. The thought and detail Anderson gives to every scene and character is really what drives this film, even to the point of changing the aspect ratio to fit with the time each part was set. I believe it could have had a completely different plot and still have the same breathtaking effect on the audience. Overall I think this film is packed with an intricate plot and quirks that will keep surprising you each time you watch it.
