We watched Harold Lloyd’s breath-taking action sequence in Safety Last where he actually climbs a building accompanied by live music! I loved it so much I would watch another one of his pulse-racing, action packed films.
Harold’s friend is chased by a police officer and asks Harold to climb a building. The friend says he'll swap hats and coats with Harold but doesn't ditch the cop and leaves Harold to get attacked by a group of pigeons; a weather vane; a net; a clock; some work men and a rope his friend threw and donks his head 3 times! Will he die from having hitting his head? Will he fall off the building?
This exhilarating silent movie kept me on the edge of my seat! The musicians played exquisitely, excellently, expertly and fantastically well.
The themes are stamina, resilience and friendship can be rotten. His friend made him climb another level while he sorts out his personal problems. Another theme is stamina and resilience because Harold keeps climbing the building even though his friend is not a good one.
I give this action-packed film 10 stars out of 10. As it had violence like when Harold bashes his head , I recommend this for children aged 6-10.
