Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 picks up from where the previous film left off continuing after the team's formation who now do random jobs for anyone in the Galaxy. Things are going normally for the team until a strange man in an even stranger spaceship arrives saying he is Peter Quill's (Chris Pratt) father and asking a few members of the team to accompany him to his planet, where all will be revealed. The film's biggest success is the writing and directing by James Gunn who's other movies the hilarious "Super" (2010), the horror flick "Slither" (2006) and of course the first "Guardians Of The Galaxy" (2014) continues his trend of witty and fun dialogue exchanges between characters written so well that they are all independent of one another and unique. The movie is perfectly directed sucking the audience into the universe more so then any other MCU property excluding the Netflix shows. I personally believe it is because of James Gunn's style which shows a specific vision of the movie rather then another sequel bait marvel movie being produced by the minute. From this movie you get the feeling that James Gunn made something he is proud of and has poured blood, sweat and tears into making it stand above the original and from the entire MCU. Although the majority of success is due to James Gunn the small cast need to be commended on their performances as the writing makes them unique so does their acting, it is impossible to imagine any of the actors being replaced or changed as they are all likeable, have great chemistry and are all different such as Dave Bautista as Drax or Michael Rooker as Yondu they all stand alone and create a fun and interesting cast. The film just like the first has a great soundtrack incorporating old songs from the 80's creating a fun and wacky tone through the whole movie again creating a feeling of reading a real life comic book at times adding to the overall direction. In my eyes this is what every blockbuster movie should be like ticking all the boxes to creating a great movie such as likeable characters, great directing and writing. Although I think the movie is great I have only one problem with it as it causes a one step forward two steps back scenario, the sets are amazing and the alien characters and planets well designed and unique it can sometimes over rely on CGI and digital effects as it can cause the movie to look artificial at times. This movie is near perfect as I had an amazing experience from watching the opening dance number by Baby Groot to the final action scene leaving you with a big grin on your face waiting for the sequel.
