I feel old writing this review

At the time of writing this, I'm like 19, and I remember being 5 and watching this film when it was only 2 years old. Watching it today, you can really feel the age on its effects, but it still has a certain charm to it, along with a core message that X-men has really preached since the idea of X-men originally. I personally believe the entire X-men series today should be scrapped and tried again, but there's real history and nostalgia when watching this film. It's just a weird call back to a time in film history where special effects, CGI, and superhero movies were finally coming through with their own niche ideas and genres. Directors and publishers still had no idea what they wanted from these kinds of movies, and now 17 years later, the core idea of what superhero movies should be continues to shift and change.

I highly recommend watching X-men, and all of it's other films in its series, if only because it has a special place in the heart of film. It's an enjoyable experience, and depending on when you've watched it in your life, you might be able to feel the nostalgia, and enjoy the film for more than its surface.
