My initial thoughts on this film were that it would be boring and too young for me, but I was soon pleasantly surprised as the film took a sudden turn, scooping me up in its vivid vortex of colour and imagination. It starts in a high school, where I first took a very sudden dislike to one of the characters (Janice Avery) who bullies every one in sight and reach of her- but later in the film I start to sympathise with her as I learn about her troubled family life.
My favourite part of the film is when Jess and Leslie -who become close friends- find a magical world that feeds off their imagination providing them with funny mythical animals such as dive-bombing birds and pine-cone grenades!!! Colour flies on the screen enveloping you in its vibrant, fun atmosphere; where exiting and engaging adventures happen.
At the end of the film your heart is filled with sadness when a devastating event happens that changes some people's lives forever. However, the ending has a happy twist which adds a touching sense of jubilance. In summary; this film is a heart-warming story about friendship, hardship, imagination and adventure. I love this film and would recommend it to all of my friends.
