A Realistic Coming of Age Story

4 stars

28 Apr 2018

This film stood out to me as by following '"Lady Bird" (Saoirse Ronan) through her final year at high school it is very easy to relate to her and what she is going through due to the film doing an amazing job of documenting the realistic ups and downs of teenage life. One of my favourite aspects of the film is the comedic element as it adds another level to the story and helps to lift the mood of the film. I really liked the slightly grainy look that the film has. This together with the slightly muted colour palette gives the film an authentic look and feel and really effectively helps to show the time period of when the film is set (2002). Overall I'd definitely recommend this film to older teenagers as I think they will be able to relate to the characters the most and will hopefully enjoy it as much as I did.
