The Fits is the 2015 short film debut by Anna Rose Holmer. The film follows the story of 11 year old Toni who becomes fascinated by a dance troupe while training daily at her local gym. Along with the struggles of fitting in, she has to deal with the sudden wave of fainting spells and fits happening within her troupe. The eerie soundscape perfectly matches the mood of the film, successfully making the audience feel uncomfortable when needed. I thought that the unique use of camera angles and shots throughout the film helped to achieve this as well. Personally, I think that this film was a perfect and distinctive way of depicting the rollercoaster of emotions that a girl goes through in this challenging time in her life. Not only doing this, but challenging the stereotypes of young girls and the expectations placed upon them by the rest of society.
