Member review

This movie was pretty good overall. I loved the acting from Seth Rogan (Had to be my favourite parts) but I don't think Micheal fits into the role of Steve very well. While other might digress and that he was amazing playing his part in the movie, I'm sticking to my opinion. He's played out to be such an a**hole and someone with a lack of empathy and basic human emotions. Steve thinks in a different way and this movie just makes him seem less ominous and intelligent and more narcissistic.

Structure

This isn't a topic I would talk about when reviewing a movie as most films get this good enough. *cough* Thirty Flights of Loving *cough*. But I have to praise this. They didn't only get it right. They came up with a simple way to shoot the movie and something the watcher can follow along with. Having a movie where you can understand whats going on is highly underrated. This has to be the best storytelling I've ever seen from a mechanic as simple as [Launch event 1] [Launch event 2] [Launch event 3]. To be honest I've never seen this mechanic used before and I'm not trying to say Danny invented this... Did he? maybe... i think... pretty sure...

Cinematography

================

The three stages of the move are filmed with 16mm, 35mm, and digital. This links great with my bit on "Structure" so now I actually seem smart and know what I'm talking about. The third part was filmed on an Arri Alexa. I honestly have no "beef" with this camera; I just have a bias towards RED due to the REDCODE RAW format and its means of compression but that doesn't mean anything when it comes to my experience in general so I don't want to start rambling away about 10-bit files and wavelet compression and what not. The colour grading was nice. Not much to say on the grading. Didn't blow my mind... But it was cool.

This is not on Netflix and I can't find the DVD. It's probably still in the DVD player we abandoned a few years ago and I'm not gonna pay £2.50 to recap some points. The sound was amazing as well. Wish I could have watched this on the big screen but unfortunately, I didn't have the time.

Good movie. Good actors. Don't feel like talking about Lisa. The end scene was cool as well. I rate this movie: 8 Jimbob's out of 10.
