Sherlock Gnomes

Sherlock Gnomes is an animated comedy movie starring Johnny Depp, Emily Blunt and James McAvory and is the sequel to Gnomeo and Juliet. The movie takes place in 21st century London and is about Sherlock Gnomes, who is based off a 19th century detective, Sherlock Holmes, search for London’s missing gnomes, with the help of Dr Watson, Gnomeo and Juliet. The music is composed by Elton john and includes many of his tracks, like Saturday.

The story starts when Sherlock is once again found fighting his arch enemy Moriarty in an attempt to save all of the captured Gnomes. At the end of the battle, Moriarty is presumed dead as he is found smashed on the floor and the Gnomes are saved. Meanwhile, all of the characters from Gnomeo and Juliet move into a new home in London. But conflict arises as Juliet starts to put tiding the new garden over Gnomeo. After a talk with the local frog, Nanette, Gnomeo embarks on a Journey to find a cupids arrow orchid to win back Juliet. It doesn’t go to plan and he is only able to escape because Juliet is there to save him. After an argument only lasting a few minutes but starting a conflict that would last throughout the whole movie, the two return to the garden to find it empty apart from two figures, Sherlock and Watson. The 4 decide to work together to find the missing gnomes and they follow their first clue into the sewer.

Sherlock Gnomes is a wonderful movie that is fun for all the family. I think all people, whether they enjoyed the first or not, should watch this film. Its fun, slightly rude and light hearted.

I give this movie 4.8 stars. The only problem I have with this movie is the title character, Sherlock. He seems to unfeeling to me although he dose redeem himself at the end. The story also lacks drama, and in most of the time when there is tension of any kind, it is either not done well or Sherlock just doesn’t seem to care. But the movie can do it right as displayed at the end so why not in the rest of it.
