Crazy Rich Asians (2018)

Rachel is an American-born Chinese professor of economics, at a New York University. Her long-term boyfriend Nick Young is also a professor at NYU, and together they plan a trip to Singapore for his best friend’s wedding in which Nick is the best man. Having never met Nick’s family before, Rachel doesn’t know what bombshells await her, and she soon discovers Nick’s big secret: he’s rich. Nick’s mother Eleanor does everything in her power to get him back, to his roots (without his girlfriend in the equation). But her plan spirals out of control and like any good Rom-Com, they have plenty of laughter and tears along the way!

Crazy rich Asians was a fun, fresh and touching film. That follows the genuine routes of a Rom-com. With its glamorous location over usual American locations. It’s a heart-warming instant classic. The all star Asian-Eurasian cast do not shy away from the big screen. The storyline is so original it breathes new life into the Hollywood Rom-com genre. Crazy rich Asians takes a satisfying step forward for screen representation.

Jon M Chu, the director has a real feel for movement, energy, colour and detail which shines through in this film. This film has a balance of old fashioned film and modern film, it tackles themes like cultural identity in a light hearted way. Will suit all ages from teenagers up.
