The World’s End

Another hilarious film by Edgar Wright and the final addition in the cornetto trilogy.

In this weird sci-fi/coming of age mix, we follow a group of old school friends as they try to recreate the pub crawl of their teens, whilst battling against an alien force attempting to assimilate and control the world.

The World’s End has one of my favourite introductions, which is essentially mesmerising. The dialogue, music and camera shots are brilliant and work amazingly together, showing the raw excitement of the night.

This excitement is suddenly stripped away as the rapid shots and fast music cut out and we are confronted with the new harsh reality of Gary King’s life.

The film is filled with a fantastic comedy, unique to Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. It also features several other notable actors, such as Martin Freeman, Bill Nighy, Eddie Marsan, Mark Heap, and Paddy Considine.

My only complaint about the film is the odd transition between the coming of age and sci-fi genre. The sudden change feels awkward, and makes you wonder if there were any smoother way to carry it out.

However despite this, I still believe this is a fantastic film, and well worth a watch.
