This film was so moving and absolutely stunning to watch!
Firstly, I loved the actors, (and actresses) especially Helena Bonham-Carter as thief, Madame Thenardier. Also, the soundtrack to this film is one of the best I have ever listened to, as it is emotional and heartwarming, displayed through each song.
The story is about Jean Valjean, who stole a loaf of bread to feed his sister's starving son and was in imprisoned for it, as a slave, for nineteen years. When he finally is released, he is refused jobs and accommodation because of his record. But a kind bishop gives him food and a place to stay, however, while the Bishop sleeps, Jean, confused and angered by the stranger's welcoming behaviour towards him, steals the Bishop's silver and leaves. He is caught, but when asked, the Bishop says he gave Jean his precious silver to sell and become a better man, and that he forgot the candlesticks because he left so soon. Jean destroys his papers and starts a new, better life...
It is a story of love, loss, heartbreak, sorrow and of doing what is right, even if it's the harder thing for you to do. I would recommend this to absolutely anyone who has the patience to keep watching it to the STUNNING end, as it is two and a half hours long!
