Persepolis is an adaptation of a comic book based on the life of a girl who grew up in Iran during extreme political unrest. It was educational and served to give both input as the events in other parts of the world, but also carried a lot of character, with quirky, comedic animation and opinions from the narrator.
The animation was visually appealing, a clear cartoon aesthetic that could maintain interest at any moment the plot began too slow down. The plot itself was clearly biographical, skipping large portions of time to show more significant events, though this does mean sometimes going from large scale political events to an anecdote about a scummy boyfriend.
Overall I 'd say the movie is worth a watch, but does not carry as much weight as it was perhaps trying to achieve.
