The Beginning of an era

4 stars

12 Sep 2019

The first Iron Man film marks the beginning of big superhero movies and the MCU. The story revolves around Tony Stark, a 'genius, billionare playboy, philanthropist' (avengers assemble). Paramount tried to find a new actor with high potential to play Tony and decided to cast the fantastic Robert Downey Jr. They also made him predominantly drive Audi, which was the new car brand on the block in 2008. The main villain, Obadiah Stane/Iron Monger played by Jeff Bridges is a perfect example of evenly matched fights that could easily go either way because of the similair powers. The climax is a massive Iron man Vs Iron man fight and you dont know who's suit is more advanced or powerful keeping you in constant suspence. The AC DC song Back In Black became staple of this movie and Black Sabbath playing the specufically written song Iron Man is a perfect touch on why this is a memorable and great way to kick off the early MCU. Jon Favreau created the standards for what superhero origin films should be like and nobody should forget where the massive, strong as iron (pun intended) MCU began.
