When I went to see this movie in the cinema, I had fairly high expectations. These expectations, rather quickly into the movie, were met and then some. I was blown away by the incredible performances from the cast, who brought the exact energy and personality into their characters that I had hoped for. Richie was as talkative as ever, now a comedian on tour which couldn't have fitted better with his character. The same goes for Eddie, who grew up to be a risk assessment manager and married a carbon copy of his mother. Beverly, unfortunately, found herself in harm's way again with her marriage, and Ben has lost a fair amount of weight from the last time we saw him. Bill kept his stutter and now works as an acting author writing movies, but Mike hasn't left Derry since the conclusion of chapter one, so doesn't have too much back story or even a job. Stanley is another situation entirely, only brief in his screen time.
The plot goes as follows; Twenty-seven years after their first encounter with the terrifying Pennywise, the Losers Club have grown up and moved away, until a devastating phone call brings them back. I think that, even with this short description, it hardly begins to summarise just how amazing the entirety of this story is. I think the music tied perfectly with each of the scenes I was shown too, which is very important to me. I like to be able to listen to a music piece on its own and identify where it comes from. This movie allowed me to just that.
Fair warning, although a fantastic piece of film, the run time is fairly lengthy (around 3 hours long), and I certainly wouldn't recommend it to those easily affected by graphic violence/imagery, death, explicit language/slurs or even heavy themes of depression and suicide.
This may end up being one of my shortest reviews, but I can guarantee that anything I write down here will not come close to giving this movie the justice it deserves. It was the perfect follow up to the sequel I'm sure many of us needed.
