Two children and two adults travel from New York to an extremely haunted house. When they enter, Simon went to a table and heard knocking on a wall. When he knocked back he heard it again. He knocked again and suddenly part of the wall fell revealing a key. Picking up the key he went inside the hole and saw a rope which he pulled. He discovered the hole was a secret lift – he went up and found a dark, gloomy room.

Unexpectedly he heard strange noises, so he darted back to the lift and used all his strength to get back down as quick as he could. He gets his brother Jared and they explore together finding a chest with a keyhole. With the key they unlocked the chest to find a secret magical book which is where the trouble started.

Jared’s walk into the woods introduced him to a creature which gave him a powerful stone to see goblins. Simon read about an old stone circle which protected the house. Then the true problem occurred…

I liked this film in which the characters looked real and how it went from no problem to problem and back to no problem with a funny but happy ending. Overall the storyline was a little predictable but had some surprises which kept me guessing what would happen.

I found some of the characters a bit too mythical because I am not a big fan of too many mythical characters in one film.

Overall, I would recommend this film for ages seven and over because it has some scary parts.
