MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING

5 stars

This magical tale by Joel Zwick depicts the life of Toula (a greek girl living in Chicago) . She faces many challenges in life including her family who want her to marry a Greek man but when Toula falls in love with an English teacher who is NOT greek she enters a battle with her family for her freedom and happiness. During this battle you get to meet Toula’s extensive family and have an insight into her life.

This film is really funny. Some of the best scenes are when Toula is in the car with her friends and her Dad is telling them that every word comes from Greek and when her mother puts a plant in the middle of a Bundt cake. This film was really good and had a really strong female character who is being told how her life should be by other people. It made me think about people who think they know better than someone just because they are a woman.

I would recommend this film to people who are aged 11+ because they need to be old enough to get the jokes. But I would definitely recommend it as I really enjoyed it.
