Greyfriars Bobby (1960)

This movie Greyfriars Bobby 1961 is, at the start, set in a sunny moor in Scotland. It is based on a true story about a dog called Bobby who lived on the moor and travelled to the to the city of Edinburgh, because his owner known as Old Jock was there.

They met this gentleman who owned a restaurant, but something really terrible happens to Old Jock, though you can probably guess since it is a Disney film.

The main setting is a damp cold graveyard called Greyfriars Kirkyard. I liked that there were not any CGI (Computer Generated Images) because that didn’t exist back then so they had to do this without any help from computer images.

I think they still did it very well because later in the show they fast forwarded to a scene of blossom and flowers and spring without any computer images. The movie made me feel quite sad but Bobby was cute and had a sweet bark, And just seeing him run around really touched me. I have my own dog, but she has a more fierce bark(she's only small though!)

I wish that I could go back in time so then so I could see Bobby. And if you watch this movie, it is probably what you will be thinking too. I loved how they used a real animal and not a CGI one because they must have had to train it and that probably would have been very hard to do. If this movie was a drink and a snack, it would probably be a plain digestive biscuit because it is quite sad (I don’t know if a digestive would count as a sad snack) and a cup of tea because its enjoyable to sit outside and have a cup of tea and it goes well with a biscuit.

And that is me thinking about how loveable Bobby is but it is not an exciting or treaty movie, but it is a lovely film... I'd recommend it to anyone aged 8 or over especially if they like old, sweet, depressing movies.

Also, the owner of the Kirkyard kept calling his own wife 'Woman' and kept being really mean to her, and I didn't like that.

I’d rate this film 4/5 stars, because I like dog movies, but not sad ones!
