The Tale of the Princess Kaguya is an animated film set in Japan, where an old bamboo farmer discovers a beautiful Princess in a miniature form, in the woods where he lives. The story unfolds as the bamboo farmer and his wife dedicate their lives to caring for the Princess in order to give her the "best life". Princess Kaguya is showered in gifts and given a mansion to live in, but she finds herself not being content, and learns that she is her happiest when she is in the woods, with trees, plant and flowers. The story covers many topics, including misogyny, humans obsession with material objects, and the belief that money buy you happiness. This beautiful animation has multiple emotional songs and teaches viewers to be grateful for what they have. I would recommend this film to any anime lovers who want to enjoy a dreamy Japanese fantasy.
