This film is set in a dystopian world a few years ahead of our time. It shows our cliche thoughts of flying cars and computerised lives. The story is based on there being this virtual reality universe in which humans take the form of avatars and “live” in this oasis. But this simulation is coveted and when the creator needs an heir the battle begins. We follow the actions of Wade, a young player who is trying to beat the simulation and ultimately win the game.
I think this is a clever movie as it incorporates other styles of movies and games within the film, there is a frightening scene from the shining in the movie which i think is very creative of the directors. I like the fact that the film has many different themes to it: dystopia, sci-fi, romance. I enjoyed the concept of reality and virtual reality all in one, i thought it shaped the film in an interesting way. Overall i would say it was a good action and adventure film, and would be most appealing for teens.
