Multiverse of Madness

4 stars

10 May 2022

Dr strange multiverse and madness follows on from the events of Spider-Man No Way Home and explores the dimensions of the multiverse. The first taster we get of the multiverse is in the most recent spider man film and the series on Disney + Loki, however it’s in this film we see the multiverse and it’s potential. From the trailer we are given suggested ideas of what will occur in the film, however this is not what seems to be…

The plot of the movie is: Dr strange senses trouble as he encounters America Chavez (newcomer Xochitl Gomez) who possesses a special ability that be known to Dr Strange others want. He and America travel between universes in order to escape her inevitable death. Will they succeed? Especially when the enemy may be more dangerous than they imagined?

The director Sam Raimi is known to direct some horror based movies and so bringing in an element of his genre into this film really brought up the intensity that was needed to match the sinister plot. The concept and creation of many universes was creative and ingenious and it created a cool paradox like setting.

I have a few critiques, compared to other marvel movies it had that bit more element of terror and violence in it, as well as some character resolutions that i would have liked to have differently played out. Despite those there was a solid plot and an excellent *gasp* moment, as well as some jump scares and little bits of humour here and there. And so overall it was a really good movie and worth the wait because we found out more about the Multiverse and the secrets behind it.
