Dune (2021)

Where to start? Indeed, the whole film felt like a start, despite being almost three hours long. The visual effects were impressive and when combined with the masterful orchestral music created a great sense of environment. The acting at times felt a little flat, and perhaps the actors relied too much on the high budget post production effects, rather than emotive delivery of their lines. At times the plot felt overly complex, due to the many introductions to new characters and concepts, with very little in the way of explanation - setting up presumably for a sequel. Despite this, I think that the film's plot was cleverly adapted, creating suspense, whilst remaining faithful to Herbert's book. Overall, I really enjoyed watching the film, and I would recommend it to fans of sci-fi, fantasy, or action.
