The original Jurassic Park movie filmed in 1993 was iconic, and the start of literally “a new era”. So in 2015 the world was waiting in baited breathe to judge the new trilogy of films following the same theme; Jurassic World. The main characters Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) have to deal with a outbreak in their prestigious enclosure which (you guessed it!) is filled with dinosaurs. The two sequels to the original were outstanding and perfectly caught the essence of everything the original movie stood for and as the modern animating and CGI have improved when filming, the quality in both the last movies was excellent.
However going into Jurassic World: Dominion, I have to be truthful and say my expectations were low. The trailer was beyond sensational and having the idea of the original cast in the movie was shocking but genius. Yet I still set the bar low in case I felt underwhelmed, and I’m glad I did.
Overall the film was very solidly done and it successfully told a story. I thought each of the actors and actresses did an amazing job, and I particularly liked the romantic chemistry with the on-screen couples. However these things are the few good in many bad. Although the film was solidly done the plot felt underwhelming. The threat could arguably be debatable over whether it was following the trend, and it felt like there were two separate plot lines that weren’t connected. When the plot lines did come together it could have been one of the most memorable moments in film to date, however I felt they completely missed an opportunity and it felt like the combination of characters was to directed. The ending was (although relatively ending well) felt boring almost and an inadequate conclusion, however during the film there was an ambiguous innuendo for more films, but I’m not sure how much of a good idea that would be.
But anyway, it is now part of an iconic trilogy and for the sake of that I would watch it but apart from that I do not feel I would watch it again because for me it did not have the same emotional impact as the other films.
