When I originally watched this film, I felt like it was a profound waste of time. Not inherently "bad", but not that good either. And re-watching it, I don't think I've changed my mind much.
I feel a lot of the conflict in the first act could've been avoided with a conversation; I think it was Shakespeare who said in twelfth night "Talk it out, just talk it out." And this lack of communication was only there to facilitate the inciting incident.
One of my friends, who will remain anonymous, when talking about it said "I'm using the 3 C's," they elaborated that this meant cold,
clinical and cynical. And I mentioned that I used the 3 P's; preference, preference, preference. I use this story to remind the critically inexperienced that ultimately all reviews have to and will use the 3 P's, and I just really like the memory.
Further more, if you use the 3 C's, as described here, too much it can develop into an attitude of apathy toward almost any film. I mean, why watch anything if it's going to suck?
I think the cynical should be replaced with critical. Not the way some people use it to mean to express disapproval, but as the ability to analyse something based on all it's merits, or lack there of, and than expressing that.
I don't know if CCC is popular, but there is 8 billion people and I think there'll be enough people that look at things through that angle for me to worth mentioning it.
This was actually one of my longer reviews. I won't provide a summery, because I know you're smart enough to use my third C, and plus this is only 3 paragraphs and you've read this far.
