Matilda is a small 8-year-old girl who loves to read: people would normally say she is a bookworm. It starts with some children singing about all of the nice things their parents say to them and in the first few minutes you are introduced to Matilda Wormwood: a clever girl that her parents are ashamed of.
I love this film because many people don't like it - to me that is an opportunity to show the world that this film is well put together. All though I love the original, I love the musical aswell because of how they enhanced the story by putting intense music, calm music and sad music; in my eyes, if it hasn't got good music then it can't be that good. I do also love films that have music that isn't as good as they could be but that is a whole other story!
My favourite character is obviously Matilda because she sends a message in the movie that no one else has thought about; her parents didn't like her for liking books and she still read them! What a wonderful thing to do. She never gave up when people were rude to her, or shouted at her. That moves perfectly into my least favourite character. My least favourite character was Mrs. Trunchbull. Although the actor her self wasn't awful at all, the character did awful things that I loved and disliked at the same time because it made me feel like I could have been in that situation and I would do what anyone else would do but it really made me want to put the Trunchbull in her place!
I could say a load of more information about Matilda the Musical but it is time to close my review. Even if people don't enjoy this film, I would recommend watching it after watching the original film to see the difference. I am definitely going to watch it again and I think you should watch it too if you haven't already. I rate this film four stars and I would recommend watching it. Have fun watching!
