I remember watching the sequel to this film when I was really young. At the time my young brain liked it in the same way you may enjoy a quick hamburger. This film series had been tucked away into some dimly lit corner of my mind for quite some time, then there came the series. I really like the series, it didn't inspire me to write this review - though might've had an influence over my decision. Anyway, simply put, this film is not that good. From a production stand point, it's OK I guess. But from a story perspective it is mediocre.at best. At the beginning of the film, the sea-god Posiden walks out of the sea and onto a harbour, during his theatrical exit from the sea he is seen by what I recall to be a fisherman. This entrance, is dramatic; which I enjoyed. But my problem lies in this: the fisherman SEES Posiden. Canonically in Percy Jackson, there's something called The Mist. It disguises mythological shenanigans from human senses. Keeping the lives of centaurs, satyrs, demigods and actual gods a secret from the mortal world. Can you see why this would be a problem? They do NOT ignore this fact with details like Grover's and Mr. Brunner's legs, Grover being a Satyr and Mr. Brunner being a centaur, specifically the centaur Chiron. You know, they actually phoned up Rick Rodan asking about the film. He didn't like it and they didn't listen so THIS stain on the Percy Jackson fandom was allowed to be made.
