- Over all I really enjoyed this movie as I haven't ever watched a movie in black and white and this is my first not and I thought it was good.
Brief recap of the movie
- Marian starts by stealing money and drive away to go and meet his girlfriend
- She gets followed by a police officer
- She finds a total to stay at and becomes friends with the person who owns it
- She gets murdered later that night
- The thing that makes psycho from other films is the complex show of psychological themes and also lots of plot twists. Norman Bates is a really trouble character due to the abuse he experienced from his mother and his grief from his father's death which led to his split personality. This deep psychological insight extremely rarely seen in the 60's
- This film was made and released in 1960 which means that it could be made in colour but one of the reasons that Alfred Hitchcock didn't use colour is because of the murder scene this makes it look less gory, this is good as back in 1960s they didn't have lots of blood in there movies.
- He uses high pitch violins in high pressure scenes to add suspense.
- over all I really enjoyed this movie as it was fun and entertaining but yet also scary and adds suspense, one thing that I didn't enjoy is as the woman at the start I thought was the main character for a while but then all of a sudden she ended up being murdered and then there was a new main character. This I found confusing but other that that I enjoyed this.
