Man I'm running out of material for titles at this point.
So How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.
It's somehow the only HTTYD movie I haven't watch since five years, dam I'm skipping binge day.
So without a further-a-let's get into it:
Animation: Now let's not kid ourselves the animation is still great but I want to note that, there is a bit more colours and not to mention the translucent on Light Fury is really cool looking.
Toothless: I want to talk about him is because sure he is part of the main story but here the movie gives him he's own plotline with Light Fury and finding his own way as he prove himself as the king of dragons thus in the Hidden World every dragon respects him.
I also mention about Hiccup's fear of losing his own friend, the one who got his back, the one who teach him about dragons and the one who started this all. But after the escape from the Hidden, Hiccup remembered what Stoick says to him:
Hiccup:"Dad? Are you gonna get a new mom?"
Stoick:"I don't want another. Your mom was the only woman for me. She was the love of my life. But with love comes loss, son. It's part of the deal. Sometimes it hurts, but, in the end, it's all worth it. There's no greater gift than love."
This is surpsingingly the most inspiring line I've ever heard from a Dreamworks movie.
Light Fury having a character arc that she hates humans and she thinks they are cruel beasts as Grimmel done to her as he constantly don't want Hiccup but shown interest to Toothless.
The next part where she finds Toothless but it's a trap for Grimmel but after she was in control of Grimmel, Hiccup realesed her and he makes the hardest decidsion of letting him go so he can make he's friend happy to Hiccup's death with Grimmel but Light Fury have a change to heart like the payoff Stoick as he went back to save Toothless, she saves Hiccup from his death.
Grimmel: Personal, I think he's the better villain to Drago. Other then he's character design and performance, he serves as a threat to all Night Furys as he explains but also want world peace ever since he killed a dragon. He didn't kill them just because to be the next greatest viking in the world, it's because he think the world will be better without dragons and he views them as these cold-blooded, violent species that dosen't belong to this world.
Even more layers that he is also smart by demonstrating he's skills e.g. in the scene where he anaysis how Night Furys will or won't go. He's already prepared and ready in the scene where Hiccup realised the trap, thus he makes him a even bigger threat, yes I dare bigger then Drago. Another scene where Ruffnut get kicked out and fly away with another dragon.
Leonard:"Isn't that a plot convenience? Grimmel should easily feed her to his own dragons?"
Your not accurate Leonard. You see, Grimmel didn't killed her because sure he's a little violent to his members but the members aren't idiots, they are just a little dopey and he just realised that, why would you kill her if you can't find their village with all of the dragons?
My only complaint for Grimmel is that, I wish he gets a bit more screen time here.
Closing Thoughts: As a finale, I think it's executed greatly with the bitter sweet moment where Hiccup says goodbye for Toothless to be his own king and so did Hiccup as humans and dragons go to there seprate ways in their own kingdom.
Years after as Hiccup and Astrid have 2 children as he approached the egde of the Hidden World. Guess he saw, Toothless again! He first didn't recognised but he gives a warm welcome back to Hiccup and it leave off a great ending as Hiccup and Toothless with their family flies away.
So overall I think this is a great ending but with few issues like the comedic parts, I don't think it's annoying it's passable but I don't think they mesh well and I do think the side characters gets a little side tracked like Snoutlout as he wants be better then Eret but he gets to be proven number 1 by Valka is a bit rushed.
So yeah, as I take my time to watch all the HTTYD movies, it's safe to say that this series is KINDA AWESOME.
So that's everything I got to say and yes Big Jim, the number one fanboy I finally didn't forget you!
(Curtains close)
Big Jim:"He said my name! He said my name!"
(Jaw dropped)
