Puss in Boots: Venture Better Together, created in partnership with Universal Pictures, is a curriculum-linked learning sequence for pupils aged 7-11 which draws from the characters and themes of the new adventure Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, in cinemas February 3.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish sees the return of everyone's favourite fear-defying feline as he embarks on a grand quest to restore his lost lives, with help from former nemesis Kitty Softpaws and the relentlessly cheerful Perrito.

Our new two-lesson learning sequence takes inspiration from the film to engage 7-11 year olds across English/literacy, design and technology, RSE/PSHE and art and design.

Activities within the resource include:

Team Skills Sorting activity

Use the film's trailer to introduce the characters from the film and open up a discussion about the most important aspects of teamwork, and how these can be the keys to success.

Story Planning activity

Students will plan and write their own adventure story inspired by the film's trio of heroes, using the conventions of adventure stories as well as their learnings about the importance of different skills when collaborating.

Going For It activity

Introduce your class to the concept of positive risk-taking. Students will consider how Puss could have pursued adventure more responsibly, before applying these learnings to real-world examples.

Everyday Adventures activity

Life's an adventure: learners will reflect on the adventures they have in their everyday lives both at home and at school.

Your students' in-class learning will be enhanced by a creative home-learning task which builds on the themes of the resource.

Updating our resources

We have developed a large catalogue of educational resources since launching in 2013, and some references and terminology will inevitably have dated as society and language evolves. We are aware of this and will be updating resources when our production schedule allows.

What our educators say

"As an alternative provision for learners who are not in mainstream school we use your resources in a slightly different way as they generally find it hard to watch a full length film. They are, however fantastic. "
