Add a fresh dimension to learning in any subject with Curricular Filmmaking for Secondary.

Designed for teachers of students aged 11-16, this free course will equip you with the skills to seamlessly incorporate filmmaking projects into your lessons. Whatever subject you teach – from chemistry to modern languages or geography to art – we’ll share simple strategies to engage students and enhance their understanding of any curriculum topic.

You’ll be guided through the entire filmmaking process and explore how each stage can support and deepen curriculum attainment. You’ll also discover tips and tricks to turn your films into mini multi-shot masterpieces, from using simple editing strategies to adding your own sound effects.

Throughout the course, you’ll see youth-made examples of curricular films to inspire your initial projects and get the chance to share your learning experiences with fellow educators. You’ll also have exclusive access to ready-to-deliver lesson resources to help you to bring the power of filmmaking into your classroom.

This course also offers a free live webinar – with a chance to ask questions to filmmaking experts, share ideas and access exclusive additional content, including further activity ideas and accompanying activity sheets, not available as part of the course.

The webinar will be held on:

Wednesday 5 October 2022 at 4:15pm: Enhance Curricular Learning with Filmmaking

A Welsh language version of the webinar will run on:

Monday 10 October 2022 at 4:15pm: Gwella Dysgu Cwricwlaidd Drwy Greu Ffilmiau

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Recognise filmmaking as a powerful tool to aid curriculum attainment
  • Design new filmmaking projects to enhance and deepen learning in any subject
  • Plan, record and edit your own short film using simple equipment and support others to work through the process.
