Synopsis

Three men are stuck in a New Orleans jail - Jack and Zack are local losers, while Roberto is an Italian tourist. The Americans put aside their differences to unite in frustration at the tourist's excitable antics - but it's Roberto (played by the hilarious Roberto Benigni) who eventually gets them out of jail and into the Louisiana countryside. This laid-back comedy is beautifully shot in black and white, and references plenty of classic films of the 30s and 40s.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."

- Marlon Perkins, Teacher, Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed CofE Junior School, Kent
