Synopsis

Featuring an all-star cast, director Penny Marshall's big-hearted and affectionate comedy is set during 1943 - when scores of professional male baseball players were leaving American soil to fight in World War II. Keeping the sport alive for a grateful American nation were recruits from the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League - and this very likeable movie tells the story of just some of their number.

What our educators say

"Some of them saw a clip from Wakolda (The German Doctor) on TV recently and really wanted to watch it. So I thought I’d take a chance, not expecting them to watch the whole film but the majority were absolutely gripped. "
