Although I tried- and failed- not to prejudge this film because it was about football, I have to admit that my expectations were low before viewing. Most of the class fell asleep for at least 1 of the 98 minutes of runtime, but despite my lack of interest about what happens to Leeds United (now or ever) I was pleasantly surprised by The Damned United. With an interesting story and strangely likeable hero, this film managed to overcome even my complete indifference to football and weave it into something I found almost compelling. For that, I have to congratulate it.
