Tough, emotionally powerful film about a down-on-his luck boxer who gets an unexpected chance at becoming a pro fighter.

Rocky tells the story of a small time boxer out to make a name for himself by beating the champ. Written by and starring Sylvester Stallone, Rocky has an involving and engaging story line, with an excellent and believable performance from Stallone. At first it seems that there is a large amount of fat in this film but gradually you realise how well you get to know Rocky in just 114 minutes, which makes the final fight all the more engaging; you find yourself desperately willing Rocky to win.The use of music in this film is excellent, from the patronising, hard working training music to the big number which accompanies the final battle. On a finishing note, one of my favourite things about this film was the do gooding nature and subtle innocence which accompanies his not very bright brain.
