I adore this film. After having it recommended numerous times by a friend, I was not disappointed! The intricate, unique storyline was intriguing and captured your attention from the moment a giant rabbit appeared in the garden. With a twist at the end, it kept you guessing until the final scene. The plot was hard to follow, which was most probably the intention, and it crossed many genres, bordering on mystery, horror and a slight hint of romance. Jake Gyllenhaal's dark qualities are endearing and he manages to create a character that is both charming and disturbing. I love him as an actor, and this was by far, his greatest film. Alongside how amazing it was, I found it surprisingly sad. The abrupt death of the character that I had grown attached to, accompanied by the touching soundtrack, was really moving. The filming was extremely effective, using a series of quick shots to make it appear like this was Donnie's thoughts and experiences. This is one of those films that every time you watch it, you will see and discover something different that helps you pull together the fine strands of the story. I can assure you that every single person that has watched this film, will have come to a slightly different conclusion of whatever happened in that 133 minutes.
