You want a film which is based on an old romance story but doesn't have the troubles of pixelation and faulty sound? If so, this film is the perfect choice for you. Anna Karenina is based on an old russian novel, published in 1877. There has been a previous make of the film before this one (the newest to date), and in my personal opinion this is the best out of the two. In most new films the old literature would have been changed to our modern day language so that we could follow and understand the story line easier - however, in this re-make, they haven't. I think the way they have kept the language which is used in the book and only adapted the words which are no longer in the english dictionary is a brilliant feature to the film - I enjoyed watching the modern film with a twist, and trying to translate the old language into the new. Also, who doesn't enjoy a smushy romance? I loved the story to this film, it had both humour and sorrow in it and that is definetely not easy to pull off. All credit to the actors, in my opinion they have chosen the best possible people to play the characters and if they had chosen anyone different I honestly think the film would not have been as good. The film may be a challenge to watch, but it is definetely worth it. I've rated Anna Karenina five stars because it is a one-of-a-kind movie and I enjoyed every minute of it.
