I went into this film with expectations based on the trailer. It looked interesting and the story that came across in the trailer seemed exciting and original. With these thoughts in mind the moment the first ten minutes were up I could tell this might be a long one. First off, the acting. 75% of the acting was good, with expression but I found throughout the piece to be little if no character development, which left me not caring about the outcomes of some of the characters because it was hard to relate with them. Secondly, Emma Watson is a fantastic actor but this film was not for her. She didn't represent an American teen as I would have expected and the character lacked little personality (except being a little superficial). She has some defined characteristics during the last fifth of the film but apart from that, she was devoid of any emotion. It was like the writers took no effort in creating a well thought out character, and then panicked and wrote a heap of garble to make the character even a little human. There were many drug use references which I didn't think were necessary and to be honest, although based on a real life event, nobody ever goes into a house, leaves lots of fingerprints and doesn't even look out for a security camera, they are screaming out to police for them to come and find them! There was a little build up, but the film was repetitive. I found that the ending flopped and felt ridiculous. I felt cheated and that a film that could have been amazing, just sunk and was boring and luke warm. It was very unrealistic and I found the characters to be dry and bland. Good editing, poor story. This film was a massive disappointment.
