The Marx Brothers - Horse Feathers

This is one of my favorite Marx brothers movies (My favorite being Duck soup), the comedy is clever, witty and fast paced (in fact so fast that some the cast (for example Margaret Dumont - one of the Marx movies regulars) didn't understand the Jokes, which was good because you didn't want your cast laughing and ruining takes). in Horse feathers there is some very funny, well thought out slap stick jokes, one of the funnier jokes in this movie the 'Swordfish' scene you can clearly see had been carefully developed and must have taken a while to create. the story makes sense, the jokes are funny the actors do well not to laugh and create and atmosphere of this being spontaneous humor instead of scripted and the slap stick scenes are very well executed. Now one thing that i have heard is that people give this fantastic movie lower ratings because (the oldest enemy of classic cinema) its in black and white, this concept absolutely baffles me, why on earth would you give a good movie a bad rating because its not in colour?, but anyway i would recommend this movie to anyone and if i had to give it a score out of ten i'd give it a ten.
