Visually stunning martial-arts action adventure, fused with tragic romance, set in ancient China.

“House of Flying Daggers” is a film set in China. It involves the language mandarin and is in English subtitles. It is not like any other martial arts film, it is also a love story. It is a good film; however, during the middle it got confusing what was going on. I did like the twists though and how she was pretending to be blind, it was shocking and unexpected. I liked the action and also the love story. The film was directed by Zhang Yimou and was directed well. The acting was very good and I loved the cinematography work done by Zhao Xiaoding, it was beautiful and there was a lot of colourful scenes, especially the forests, fields etc. I don’t think I would watch it again however, I did not like the ending, I expected a happy ending with Jin and Mei, but it turned out completely different, not to spoil the film. Overall, good acting and cinematography but not my favourite subtitled film.
