This film is about a boy that grows up to be a plane designer for Japan in WW2. This film is a mix of happiness, loneliness and generosity. In one scene, one of his plane designs was falling. When it fell ,it went from white clouds to grey and I think this represents that something bad is going to happen.
This is exceptional animation from Hayao Miyazaki , especially considering the cells were drawn by hand on the computer, once again another amazing Studio Ghibli film.
This film is based on a true story, did you know this film was originally a manga comic?
It was Hayao Miyazaki's last ever film as a director.
