Four Lions is an interesting film in its approach to Islamic Extremism in the UK, it is presented as a mindless comedy reminiscent of films such as Meet the Spartans or Disaster Movie but it is cleverly satirical much like Sasha Baron Cohen films (Borat, Bruno). The film centres around 4 men on their "journey" to become martyrs for Islam. The main Omar is the only intelligent character of the four with the others Barry, Waj and Faisal lacking reasoning abilities, the scripts use of the other characters to create humour is impressive and created some genuinely funny moments especially after the addition of Hassan to the group, however like most comedy not every joke hit and some fell flat an example being the final scene. The satire in the film has, in my eyes, three focal points. The police, the main characters and the foreign Islamic extremists. Overall the film is effective.
