Master and Commander is a brilliant film. I love it so much and it certainly makes my favorite movies list. So let me briefly breakdown the best elements of this movie set in 1805. The story is good and the acting really well done. Russel Crowe may very well be my favorite actor and the characters he portrays are simply humble, kind, loving and full of honesty and integrity. I just hope he is like that in reality. The music is quite good and the best part of this film is the ship. The HMS Surprise led by Captain Aubrey and the kid you've got to love, Midshipman Blakeney. I absolutely adore films set in the Napoleonic Wars. I find those big and beautiful Man-O-War ships to be fascinating. I would love to just travel back in time and lead my own ship across the seven seas capturing vessels along the way. Overall, I love this film because of the setting, the acting and the storyline it gives you. It is a masterpiece in its class and throughout the movie world although not well known. So I heartily recommend you watch it.
