I've been a huge fan of Pixar for many years, some of my favourites are the Toy Story trilogy, Inside Out and their most recent film Finding Dory. This film -Monsters University- was the second film I saw in the cinema and on my pervious account on Film Club, I considered it a masterpiece, I've now rewatched it in Film Club, my opinion has changed slightly but the film is still a lot of fun. In this prequel to Monsters Inc, we follow Mike as he attends Monsters University to become a Scarer. He becomes rivals with Sulley - whose personality is quite different to the humble and cuddly monster we know- but is kicked out of the Scare Programme with Sulley for their behaviour. They meet Oozma Kappa and take part in the Scare Games but Mike is ready to do anything to become a Scarer, even enter the human world or find a new dream. Although Sulley's personality is different from Monsters Inc (another favourite) he remains my favourite character as his humble side is still there along with pressure about living up to his daddy's experience, but is very courageous. Mike is very serious and determined but funny at times like in Monsters Inc. We also see how Randall's rivalry with Sulley started. I also like Squishy for his loyalty and friendliness and Brock (one of the Scare Games hosts with Clare) for his passion, energy and one of my favourite lines in the film: "Welcome to your worst nightmare, the Scare Games!!" I didn't like Johnny though. The animation and character designs are a little different than last time but still well done and a interesting but simple is very good. As the excellent 'The Good Dinosaur' proved last year, simple is good. The song 'Roar' played during the party scene, is a fun dance track. There's also a post credits scene that's very funny too. I am giving it 4 stars due to being a little weaker than some of my favourites but it is still a fun film.
