The film Hidden Figures is based on a true story – which is about civil rights; it is an inspiring movie that proves that if you stand up to something, you can change how the world perceives you. People might be interested in this film if they are determined, patient and inspired by astronauts, space and equality.
During this film, the main characters (Katherine, Ruby and Dorothy) are black women who work for NASA. After being treated disrespectfully, they each stand up for their rights and begin to work together with the white men and women to try and make a rocket reach space for the first time. Just before the rocket lifts up, things go wrong! Will they be able to change it? Will they succeed their project?
The main few characters are Katherine (who was a math's genius before the age of 9), Ruby (who is a strong, independent engineer), Dorothy (who is intelligent and an emotional character), Harrison (who is the manager of NASA), Mr. Jackson (who is married to Katherine) and the astronaut (who was determined to get to space). The colour of the film wasn’t black and white apart from when some of the characters were watching the television, as back then, there wouldn't be colour. During the film, there were different camera views: head shots; close ups; blurred images (like when the rocket was in the sky) and high and low angled shots. Hidden Figures is based on a true story about resilience and civil rights. The setting was in Virginia, 1961. The majority of the movie was normal speaking level. However, when it was the rocket, it sounded like you were there at that moment.
Hidden Figures is an inspirational film that shows you can do anything if you put your mind towards it; it is unique, as I didn’t expect the movie to be as it was. Nevertheless, it had a meaningful message behind it: you can achieve anything, if you persevere and work hard! I really enjoyed this film and would recommend it to anybody.
