The Shape of Water (2017)

Running head first into this film with high expectations was extremely dangerous, this was one of my most highly anticipated films of 2018 and I unbelievably exited to watch it.

The 1960's aesthetic choices create an instant sense of intruige and wonder that compel the audience to be active and attentive, to go and search for del Toro's detailed secrets and easter eggs.

Possibly one of the strangest and most unique actors of his generation, Doug Jones, delivers another award worthy performance as a lizard/fish character. His body contortion and physic moulding leaves the viewers in awe of his talent.

The brilliant Sally Hawkins pulls off the remarkable by creating an emotionally intelligent and highly likeable character without even having to say a word. I would also like to praise Richard Jenkins and Michael Shannon for being amazing in the Shape of Water as well, I would love to go into further detail about them but cannot for space conservation.

Overall, I absolutely loved this piece of art and highly recommend this to anyone. Del Toro has created another masterpiece and should get all the commendation that he entirely deserves. A very good film.
