A stark view into the reality of the lives of black people in the 70's

5 stars

13 Sep 2018

Spike Lee captures the discrimination the police had towards black people in the 70's whilst also showing how the black people felt during these times. The Colorado Police Department hire their first black officer and the film captures the struggles he had to face to gain the respect of his fellow officers. Spike Lee mixes comedy with a serious style of story about the infiltration of the Ku Klux Klan and how they operate. Based on a true story, Lee captures the story perfectly and the narrative of the story fits perfectly with the time frame it is set in. A beautifully shot film with multiple character development in a documentary style film. I would strongly recommend as it is completely worth the watch.
