Tgis was just a fantastic movie. Because the film is black and white I feel like there’s more emphasis on the story. They really make you care about the characters. This is a great story of two boys from a tough neighbourhood and one just managed to run a bit faster than the other and they have completely different lives; one is a priest, the other is in and out of jail. The story is completely captivating and keeps you hooked the whole way through. By the end you’ll be debating with yourself over the big question. You’ll need to watch it to see what that question is! I didn’t think I was a fan of “gangster films” but this was just brilliant. I want to see more films with Jimmy Cagney, he’s such a great actor.
Bonus trivia: this film was used as the basis of the spoof of the gangster films in Home Alone 1&2; Angels with filthy souls, and Angels with even filthier souls!
