A reflective, dialogue-free animation which sees a man encounter a strange red turtle after becoming stranded on a desert island.

Too Artsy

The Red Turtle certainly tries to be a reflective journey of something or other, however for me the 'message' was too blurred. Add this to the incoherent story and time skips and The Red Turtle becomes a bit of a mess.

The sound design, on the other hand, is second to none. Due to the fact that it's a silent film, it relies on the ambient sounds and pathetic fallacy to set the tone. Specifically, when characters interact with their surroundings.
